While serving in Argentina years ago, a missionary from the U.S. met a pastor in Argentina. This bi-vocational pastor and his family were very committed to the Lord's work both locally and internationally. The church was small...around 40 members. But whenever mission offerings were taken, this church like the Macedonians gave sacrificially. Maria (not real name) was 10 when she met the missionary family.
When the missionary family later went to serve in South Asia, this family, including Maria committed to pray for the missionary family. As a result God called her to be a missionary. The pastor made a trip with four others to visit the missionary, and later Maria, then in her 20's, also made a trip to South Asia.
This fall, Maria will be one of the first students at the Training Center. Her father, who now pastors a church with 20 members, is the sending church. In order to pay for her airfare, he sold a portion of their family's vineyard to help pay for the ticket. Their church, along with several other Argentina churches, will provide the financial support for Maria when she arrives in South Asia.
Those who received missionaries now send missionaries. This is being repeated thousands of times in Latin America. That is why Conexion 10/40 exists.
To supplement Maria's training, about $800 a month is needed to cover costs. Would you, like the church in Argentina with 20 members, consider giving sacrificially for her training as she prepares to serve?
