2009 Strategic Alliance Summit
The Third Strategic Alliance Summit was held October 22-23 at Cross Pointe Church in Duluth, Georgia. This year there were 39 people from the United States representing 15 churches and 4 missions agencies. Latin America was represented by 17 missions leaders and pastors from 11 countries. Four of the current partnerships in process were highlighted and evaluated. Two missionaries shared about the testimonies of Latin American workers in the 10/40 Window. There will be workers leaving for the field from two of these partnerships soon!
Feedback has been very positive and it was generally agreed that much progress has been made in these three years related to the two cultures understanding each other and what is needed to effectively partner in missions so that the unreached may hear the Good News of the gospel.

Cross-Cultural Training Center Update
We at Conexión 10/40 have been able to identify with the apostle Paul and the record found in Acts 16:6-10 this past year and a half. This is the passage where Paul was "forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia," and later when they "were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them." But then God gave Paul a vision to go to Macedonia, and the gospel would enter Europe through that direction! God's plan, as always, was better!
This past year and a half Conexión 10/40 has diligently sought the most effective way to begin a training center for Latin American missionaries with an emphasis in second language acquisition. God has not permitted those avenues to open, and we are currently investigating options for the location of this training center.
We believe this opportunity will open up opportunities that could never have been possible locating this training in the United States, and we are thankful to God for His leadership in this process. Several Latin American leaders have already expressed their interest in this training.
Please pray:
1) that a building for the training center will be found by December 31;
2) that God will bless the registration process with the government and the Department of
Education on the island;
3) that God will bless as preparations are made to begin the training in August of 2010.
Second Language Acquisition Web Class
The Second Language Acquisition class via internet is finishing in December. The progress of the students has been incredible and they have worked very hard. One of the students may be heading to Asia in a couple of months once funding is secured!

August Board Retreat
God is doing some great things at Conexión 10/40 through our Board of Directors! August 27-29 we conducted our first Board Retreat at Hollifield Retreat Center in Conover, North Carolina. God blessed this meeting in an incredible way as He gave us a unanimous and clear direction for the future as we corporately sought His will and purpose for this ministry.
The major decision taken was to aggressively pursue the formation of a Training Center for Latin American missionaries in the Caribbean. More will be shared in coming months about this exciting step of faith God has for Conexión 10/40. Our God given vision is to provide practical, field-tested training to 500 Latin American missionaries in the next ten years.
Training Topics will include:
- second language acquistion principles through learning English
- maintaining spiritual life during cross-cultural transition
- church planting among unreached peoples
- relating to the sending and local church
- resolution of interpersonal conflicts
- teambuilding and leadership principles
This training will be approximately one year in length for missionary candidates and emphasize 2 Timothy 2:2 reproducible models in order for these missionaries to train other missionaries to impact the next generation of Latin American workers.
Please note the prayer requests below regarding this training center. God is worthy and able to bring this vision to reality by His grace and power in and through His people as we seek His face!!
Guatemala Training
September 13-19 Ruth and Gloria traveled to La Mesilla, Guatemala to conduct a missionary training for 17 missionary candidates of CECAM (Missionary Training Center). They spent four days sharing from their field experience in language learning, cross-culutral transition, church planting movements, Hinduism, Islam, and other topics.
 
Strategic Alliance Summit 2009
The third Strategic Alliance Summit will be held at Cross Pointe Church in Duluth, Georgia October 22-23. This years event will host 17 leaders from Latin America and more than 30 mission leaders from the United States.
A special thank you to Pam Leddy for all of her work in organizing and supervising all the logistics for this meeting!

- Pray for the Strategic Alliance Summit October 22-23 in Duluth, Georgia.
- We are currently negotiating for a property in Caribbean to place the Training Center. Please pray for God to clearly reveal His will for both organizations.
- Also pray that God will give Conexión 10/40 favor in the eyes of the government officials in this place in order that we may register a non-profit organization and training center within in the next 8 months.
- Please pray for the visa for that was applied for earlier this year to be approved.
- As with most churches and non-profit organizations, please pray we will be good stewards of the funds God supplies the ministry in these challenging economic times.
